Irish Illustrated – Michael Floyd sentenced to probation

Jun 29, 2011 /

Suspended Notre Dame wide receiver Michael Floyd has been sentenced to a year of probation and can’t drive for 90 days after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor drunken driving charge.

A St. Joseph County magistrate on Wednesday gave Floyd a one-year prison sentence that was suspended. He also ordered that after Floyd gets his license back, he will have a device installed in his car for 180 days that will prevent it from starting if his blood-alcohol level is too high.

Prosecutors say when Floyd was arrested March 20 in South Bend he had a blood-alcohol level of 0.19 percent — more than double Indiana’s legal limit for driving.

Coach Brian Kelly suspended Floyd after his arrest. He is being allowed to take part in voluntary workouts.
