The Notre Dame coaching staff continues to evaluate prospects and issue new offers. Offensive line represents a clear position of need in the class of 2013. The Irish have numerous offensive line offers out and recently issued yet another. Additionally, Notre Dame fans know that Head Coach Brian Kelly likes players that have considerable position flexibility. Last week Irish Sports Daily spoke to two young men that fit neatly into Notre Dame’s 2013 recruiting needs. What have you been missing by not being a member of Irish Sports Daily?
Colin McGovern, OT, 6-5, 280, Lincoln Way West High School, New Lenox, IL was recently told by the Notre Dame coaching staff that all they needed were his transcripts in order to issue him a scholarship offer. Apparently, his transcripts were acceptable because he recently received his Notre Dame offer, sort of.


In the Class of 2012 Notre Dame only recruited two players for the defensive line and linebacker combined. The number of outstanding players that they brought in at those positions in 2011 meant that those areas weren’t strong positions of need but it also means that the Irish will once again need to load up on those positions in 2013. Last week Irish Sports Daily spoke to two young men at those positions that the Notre Dame coaching staff would love to see donning Irish uniforms in 2013. Winning at any level in football generally requires playmakers on both sides of the ball. Notre Dame certainly believes that it has the playmakers on defense to be very good next year, but with the loss of Michael Floyd and Jonas Gray will need to add playmakers on offense. The Irish have reached out to two Florida prospects to try to add playmakers in the class of 2013. Both show some interest in Notre Dame.
