Two months ago, Tre Bell arrived in San Antonio for the Army Underclassmen Combine without any major offers.
The cornerback from St. Peter’s Prep (Jersey City, N.J.) was confident the offers were coming, but was understandably beginning to get anxious. Those nerves were eased less than two weeks later when he landed his first offer from South Carolina.
Bell had heard how the first offer was always the most difficult and, sure enough, the dominoes began falling quickly as Wisconsin, West Virginia and Vanderbilt all pulled the trigger before the end of January. By the end of February, Bell was up to 14 offers as South Florida, Michigan, Nebraska, Florida, UConn, Rutgers, Temple, Ole Miss, North Carolina and Boise State all pulled the trigger.
