In the pass-oriented world of college football, a strong secondary is a must for teams that wish to be legitimate national title contenders. Some late season recruiting defections last year has made defensive back a priority for the Notre Dame coaching staff in 2013. They already have two cornerbacks verbally committed in this class but would like to add at least one more. They would also like to add a safety to this year’s recruiting class as well. Though last year’s safety haul was impressive, Bob Diaco’s defense makes the position one of great flexibility and the Irish are always in the market for fast and athletic playmakers. The members of the current Notre Dame coaching staff are relentless recruiters. They have proven that time and again. As long as players allow the staff to remain in contact with them, the Irish coaches will keep recruiting them, whether they have verbally committed or not. The goal of any recruitment is to convince a player to make a visit to campus. And the Notre Dame campus often proves to be a major selling point for the Irish program. Last week Irish Sports Daily spoke to two young men that are important to Notre Dame’s ultimate recruiting success. Both have planned unofficial visits to South Bend this summer.
