Irish Sports Daily – Maryland Athlete Looks To See ND

MilanCollins1Milan Collins hasn’t finalized his plans just yet, but if everything works out, the 6-foot-2, 197-pound athlete from Forestville, Md., will be in South Bend for Notre Dame’s Junior Day on March 24th.

“Obviously they have a beautiful campus, I’ve heard a lot about it,” said Collins.

“My father has friends that went to Notre Dame and they’ve said nothing but great things about it. I just want to go there and have the experience for myself and get a feel for the campus, how the coaches interact with their players and what a typical player goes through. That’s what I hope to take out of it.”

Irish Sports Daily – Boulware Blowing Up

BenBoulware3Ben Boulware has seen his recruitment change dramatically in the last month or so.

The 6-foot-1, 228-pound linebacker from T.L. Hanna High School in Anderson, S.C., had a pair of early offers, but didn’t add another until February. Now he’s well into double-digits.

“It’s kind of surprising,” Boulware acknowledged. “I wanted it to happen and I was expecting it to happen, but I guess I wasn’t expecting it to happen all within a month. I was stuck at two offers for a while and in the last month, I got 14. It’s pretty cool.

“I had South Florida for like a month or so and then I got Stanford, I think in December. This has all started popping up just since the middle of February.”

Irish Sports Daily – Bell Continues To Blow Up

TreBellDBWhile recruiting territories were shuffled for most Notre Dame assistants following a staff shakeup, defensive coordinator Bob Diaco’s will stay the same, which means he’ll continue to see a lot of Rich Hansen.

Diaco’s relationship with the St. Peter’s Prep coach dates back to his time at Virginia and Diaco, who recruits the northeast for the Irish, spent plenty of time at the high school in Jersey City, N.J., in 2010 and 2011 recruiting running back Savon Huggins. Diaco’s next target is 2013 cornerback Tre Bell and he was in Hansen’s office just a couple months ago to discuss Bell.

Irish Sports Daily – Recruiting Week In Review

EldridgeMassingtonDBRecruiting in the class of 2013 is heating up as the Notre Dame coaching staff continues to issue more offers. As is usually the case with the Irish they are recruiting nationally, scouring the country for top prospects. Last week Irish Sports Daily spoke to two young men that come from the recruiting hotbeds of California and Texas. The Irish are looking for playmakers on offense and offensive linemen to open things up for those playmakers and these two talented athletes match those needs. What have you been missing by not being a member of Irish Sports Daily?

Aaron Cochran, OL, 6-8, 360, Buhach Colony High School, Atwater, CA is a big recruit for Notre Dame, both literally and physically. After having signed only two offensive linemen in the class of 2012, the Irish will be looking to load up at the position in 2013. Cochran would be a huge get for Notre Dame and he has expressed legitimate interest in the Irish.
