Irish Illustrated – Daunting road task awaits

Jeff Jackson is plenty aware of the challenges awaiting his hockey team this weekend as it travels to No. 5 Michigan for a Central Collegiate Hockey Association quarterfinal series.

Since Jackson took over in South Bend, he has led his teams on the road for only one playoff series. It came against Ohio State at the end of a tumultuous 2009-10 campaign and resulted in a sweep that brought the season to an end.

Irish Sports Daily – Zaire Delays Decision

MalikZaire3Malik Zaire may have adjusted his timeline a little bit, but his overall plan hasn’t changed at all.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound quarterback from Kettering, Ohio (Archbishop Alter) was looking to make a decision by the end of March or beginning of April. Zaire was clear from the start that his timeline was dependent upon his ability to visit all of his top schools.

“There’s been a change in the timeline, but not by much,” Zaire’s father Imani said. “With other players entering the field here, he just wants to check a chance and actually visit the places.”

A new school has been added to the group that already consisted of Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Pittsburgh and Ohio State. An offer from Alabama this week has put the Crimson Tide in the mix and a trip to Tuscaloosa on the itinerary.
