The jewel of Notre Dame’s latest recruiting class, Te’o was ranked by many services as the top defensive player in the country and was named High School Athlete of the Year by the Sporting News. Te’o played in the Under Armour All-American Game and the Hawaii Prep Classic. He was twice named as the Hawaii Gatorade Player of the Year and was a two-time All-State performer. Recorded 129 tackles, 11 sacks and three interceptions as a senior while helping Punahou to its first-ever state championship. Te’o was a high school teammate of fellow signee Roby Toma and had 90 tackles and five sacks as a junior in 2007. Earned Eagle Scout honors and volunteers for the Special Olympics and Head Start Preschool program. Te’o has a very good chance at contributing early.
