Ezekiel Elliott’s first visit to Notre Dame made a big impression on him, but perhaps an even bigger impression on his mother, Dawn.
“I really do like Notre Dame,” said Dawn, who visited Notre Dame with her son and husband for the Irish’s game against Air Force last fall. “I was impressed with the academics. That’s really what’s most important to me. My son is obviously there to get an education.
“He has always been in a smaller class-sized setting. I learned that Notre Dame was actually smaller with only 8,300 undergrads. For some reason I always thought Notre Dame was a much larger school.”
The 6-foot, 195-pound junior running back from St. Louis (John Burroughs School) is one of the hottest 2013 prospects in the Midwest of late, collecting offers from Notre Dame, Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska, Northwestern, Ohio State, Wisconsin, Kansas State and Arizona State in the month of February alone.
